Mills County Engineer’s Facility

The Mills County Secondary Roads Building in Glenwood, IA provided a new vehicle maintenance and office facility for the County. The 19,600 square foot project included three drive thru vehicle bays and a drive thru wash bay. The facility utilizes a geothermal heat pump system to provide HVAC for the office space and incorporates a water-to-water heat pump and in-floor radiant heating system for the vehicle maintenance bays. A dedicated outside air unit with an energy recovery wheel and water-source heat pump provides room neutral, dry air to the building.

The highly energy efficient design was awarded a 2021 Excellence in Energy Efficient Design Award from the Commercial New Construction (CNC) program achieving a 54% kBTU saving compared to the program baseline.
